FREE Global Education Conference
We always hear about these fantastic conferences in far flung places with great speakers and sessions and find ourselves saying things like "I wish I could take the vacation time...", "I wish I could afford to go right now..."and/or "If it just started a bit later, I could go."
To that end, GCE-US has sponsored a strand with the Global Education Conference taking place November 18-22, 2013. A completely virtual and free education conference, the Global Education Conference brings together over 10000 participants from around the world to participate in and lead self-scheduled proposed sessions on a variety of topics associated with global education, including, but not limited to, teachers, curriculum, leadership and Education for All.
Some invited keynote speakers for the event include Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY) who introduced the Education For All Act in the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year and Justin van Fleet, Chief of Staff to the UN Global Education Special Envoy, Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Within the GCE-US' EFA strand, there will be more than 40 sessions during the week.
- Lesson For All: The Right of Education and the Barriers Worldwide will share the Lesson for All K-12 curriculum developed for the Global Campaign for Education-US by presenter, Donna Roman, that integrates the right to an education into the curriculum at various grade levels that is tied to Common Core and global competency standards.
- New Education Highway: Using Technology, Community Partnerships, OERs and Targeted Teacher-Training to Provide Access - Even in Areas Without Internet - to Free, Quality Education will illustrate, through its founders, how New Education Highway uses its offline learning interface (based largely on open educational resources), technological tools, partnerships with existing community organizations, and targeted teacher-training, to provide communities - including those without an internet connection - access to an open, quality education.
