Jessica Alba is in Washington launching the 1GOAL: Educational for All campaign.
The goal of the campaign is to make education the lasting legacy of the FIFA 2010 World Cup. As Honorary U.S. Co-Chair of 1GOAL, Alba has just returned from a trip to Africa to see how U.S. funding for global education is changing the lives of children in developing countries.
Also unveiled today: Legislation introduced by Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., designed to get basic education for every child in the world by 2015. Right now, 72 million children, mostly girls, remain out of school. Lowey's Education For all act would provide for the creation of a Global Fund for Education.
