Promoting quality education for all.

Join us on April 28 for a National Call-In Day to Congress in support of a U.S. pledge to the Global Partnership for Education!

With 57 million primary-school aged children currently out of school and 250 million children who cannot write, read, or count, now is the time to act to support global education. The Global Partnership for Education is the only international partnership exclusively dedicated to ensuring all children have access to a quality education and are learning. This June, the Global Partnership will hold a pledging conference to raise $3.5 billion from donors, which will help to support 29 million children in primary school in poor and conflict-affected countries around the world.

Along with partners across the country, we are urging the U.S. Administration to step up its leadership and pledge $250 million over two years at the Global Partnership’s pledging conference, and we need your help! Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) has introduced a letter from members of Congress asking President Obama to support a U.S. pledge of $250 million over two years. Your representatives only have until May 1 to sign their names in support of this effort. Will you call your Representative today and ask them to sign Representative Schakowsky’s letter asking for a pledge of $250 million over two years for the Global Partnership for Education?

Find your representative and his/her phone number here using your zip code, or call the Capitol Switchboard at 202.224.3121 and ask to be connected to your representative’s office. After you make your call, please click here and let us know how your call went.

Here’s a sample script to help you make your call:

Hello. My name is XXXX, and I am a constituent from XXXX. I have a request for the Representative. Could you take it down for me and pass it to the aide responsible for foreign policy issues?

Around the world, there are still 57 million primary school aged children around the world not in school and 250 million children who cannot read or write. Supporting the Global Partnership for Education is the best way to get these children into school and build lasting education systems in poor countries.

I’m calling to ask the Representative to sign a letter led by Representative Schakowsky to President Obama that is circulating in the House. The letter urges the U.S. to make a pledge of $250 million to the Global Partnership for Education at a pledging conference this June. Signing this letter will send a strong message to the Administration that Congress and the American people want the U.S. to support global education in the most effective way possible. I can send you a copy of the letter.
